One of the things that I have gained since moving to Rockaway, New Jersey is an ever-growing respect for all God’s creatures. The Native American Indians recognized the holiness and reverence due all of creation and the earth. As Chief Seattle reminds us “The earth does not belong to us, we belong to the earth.”

The first time I saw a little doe, a deer and then a buck in my backyard I couldn’t believe it. They are so beautiful to look at. I also recognize the truth of Chief Seattle’s saying that they were here before me, as they delight in eating my new plants and shrubs.

I have an abundance of God’s creatures that I draw inspiration from and delight in day in and day out. That is why I have taken these inspirational pictures to share with you. There are birds of all colors and sizes, the sheer elegance and beauty of the swans at a local park. I love watching the squirrels gathering their acorns and nuts from the trees preparing for winter. They are all God’s creatures large and small - chipmunks, and black bears meandering through the backyard and open spaces.

The spiritual lesson I am constantly reminded of: Why do I worry about what I will eat tomorrow? Look at the birds of the sky and the fishes of the sea. I provide for them, how much more will I provide for your needs, says the Lord.
